Friendly fire: 2010 training camp battles, part two

We went a different way with part one, focusing on the offensive line first.

We’ll let the skill position players get their due this time around, though, as we make them the focus of part two.

Not bad for a short intro, huh?

Wide receiver

Type of battle: No. 3 receiver spot

Combatants: James Jones (26 years old, 6-feet, 1-inch, 208 [...]

By the end of the week, the 2010 season will be underway - holy crap!

(Before we begin: Our “Friendly Fire” training camp battles series begins Tuesday.)

Before this week’s over, it will begin.

The two-a-days. The position battles. The fights. The heat – my God, the heat.

No more guessing will be necessary. Okay, there will still be some guessing – but not as much. Before this week’s over, training camp for [...]

So...why do people hate Ted Thompson, again? A closer look

Now that doesn’t mean I agree with everything he does. But at the end of the day, I’m glad he’s running the show over at 1265 Lombardi [...]

Top 10 moments/games of the decade: Part one

So, the Green Bay Packers’ All-Decade Team is in the books.

But what about the best moments or games of the decade? We’d have to talk about that, wouldn’t we?

Yes we would.

After all, the past 10 years have been filled with those “Wow” moments for us Packers fans. Narrowing them down to a list of 10 [...]

Wrapping up the heartbreak with a trip to the question department

Since you can only touch on so many topics in a game recap, I figured I’d use this post to wrap-up the 51-45 overtime heartbreaker. And what better way to do that than with a trip to the question department?

(Quick aside: Yes, I fully realize that doing this is very much an exercise in sadism. [...]

Come to Jesus? More like jobs on the line

Dave from Milwaukee, a great friend and follower of OBOD sent me this link this morning from the Journal Sentinel that the offense cleared some air after watching film on Monday.  Greg Bedard reported that veteran offensive players took turns addressing the unit.  It sounds like Aaron Rodgers was called out on holding the ball [...]

Mid-season report card, part one

I had to make a choice.

I could do what I usually do on Tuesdays and write some sort of lighthearted, (hopefully) funny post about why we as Packers fans hate the team’s upcoming opponent, the Dallas Cowboys. But seeing as how they’ve pretty much owned us for the past, oh, I don’t know, length of [...]

A Monday trip to the question department

As Oasis once said, questions are the answers you might need.

I’ve always loved that line and it seems to hold particular importance today. There are a few fairly major question marks surrounding the Green Bay Packers as they get ready for round two with Judas and the Queens on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

(On that note, [...]

Regular season game six vs. Cleveland: Comfortable win breeds confidence in defense

In my preview for Sunday’s contest with the Cleveland Browns, I said the Green Bay Packers had to not only win, but win big in order to gain some real confidence moving forward.

No problem there, huh?

In cruising to a dominant 31-3 road win against the hapless Browns, which improves their record to 4-2 on the [...]

Wednesday wrap-up: Green signs (and other notes)

What was rumored Tuesday became official Wednesday.

Ahman Green is a Green Bay Packer once again.

Green signed a one-year deal with the team. Terms were not disclosed. Green and former Indianapolis Colts running back Dominic Rhodes both worked out for the team Monday.

I’ll have a column expanding my thoughts on the Green signing later today, so [...]
