Offseason to-do list: Green Bay's restricted free agents, part one

We’ve covered the Green Bay Packers’ unrestricted free agents. That was fun (at least for me) and fairly easy to do.

This is where it gets tricky. Hopefully, I can make this both brief and understandable.

As of now, the league and the player’s union are extremely far apart on a new CBA. In the event they fail [...]

Offseason to-do list: Green Bay's unrestricted free agents, part two

I told you I’d bring you part two today (scroll down a bit for part one) and I’m here to deliver.

I’m many things – apparently, a piss poor predictor of playoff games is one of them (thanks for the mentioning that, however brutally, jclombardi) - but I am not a liar.

Again, enjoy.

Nose tackle Ryan Pickett, nine years – Pickett made $3.4 [...]

Offseason to-do list, part one: Green Bay's unrestricted free agents

It’s time.

That’s right, fans - it’s time to start talking Green Bay Packers offseason plans. The 2009 season is over-and-done with and the 2010 offseason is rapidly approaching.

This looks to be one of the busiest offseasons in recent memory for the Pack. As of now, the team has a total of 17 players scheduled for free agency, [...]

Gettin' you ready for divisional weekend

Well, my playoff predictions are off to a smashing start. After picking winners at a solid 66 percent clip during the regular season, I nailed exactly one pick last weekend. And, of course, it wasn’t our beloved Green Bay Packers.

No, I guessed correctly on the hated Dallas Cowboys. Of course it had to be them. Of course it [...]

Mourning is over, lots of memories

It has taken me a few days to actually talk about the Packers, let alone write about them.  But I am an adult and sports are well, just sports.  There are far more important things to worry about in life.  Will I be disappointed not to see the Packers get their shot at the Saints?  [...]

A quick glance at next week's OBOD line-up

What the Green Bay Packers will do this offseason is currently a hot topic amongst most fans.

We at OBOD are certainly aware of this. And starting Monday, we’re going to tackle the crap out of it (unlike Green Bay’s defense against Arizona). We wanted to wait a week to let the dust fully settle following [...]

Top ten moments of the regular season in video

With the Green Bay Packers’ 2009 campaign officially in the books, it seemed like a good time to look back at some of the best moments of the season.

It was a great bounce-back year for the Packers, improving by five wins and making a postseason appearance. Yes, the loss to Arizona was tough, but that doesn’t [...]

From question mark to Defensive Player of the Year: A look at Woodson’s remarkable four-year journey

Some marriages are based on love, amazing unions where both parties are truly, madly, deeply in love with each other.

The marriage of Charles Woodson and the Green Bay Packers was not such a merger.

After all, Green Bay waited until April 2006 to begin its pursuit of the former Oakland Raiders’ cornerback – roughly two months after the start of free [...]

Rex Ryan, please shut up

Well, that didn’t take long: The media might not have big-timed Charles Woodson, the defensive player of the year from little Green Bay who beat out New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, but Jets coach Rex Ryan has already blasted the reporters who voted for Woodson over Revis.

This from Ryan, as quoted by the Milwaukee [...]

Woodson wins Defensive Player of the Year!

Turns out Charles Woodson didn’t get screwed over by the voters.

That’s right: Woodson is your 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He won the award earlier today.

More on this a little later.
