Faithful OBOD readers, you deserve an explanation. Well, I’m here to give you one. As you may or may not know, there was no “Gettin’ you ready for…” segment last week. The reason is simple: I was sick. I had an awful cold – a sudden cold/snow blast ripped through Minneapolis and made, seemingly, the entire metro area [...] As Gene pointed out earlier in the week, I have been a bit – oh, how shall we put it nicely? – optimistic about where this Green Bay Packers team is headed. Five wins in a row can do that to a fella. As positive as I’ve been, I fully understand that there are some holes on [...] Just dropping in with my quick prediction for tonight’s game. (Yes, I know I didn’t pick any games last week. An explanation is forthcoming, I promise.) Tonight, Peyton Manning and his Indianapolis Colts (13-0) hit the road to continue their chase of a perfect record. The opponent is no pushover, either: The 7-6 Jacksonville Jaguars. While the Jags [...] Dear OBOD readers, I was struggling with my usual fun Tuesday post. I couldn’t think of anything to write about other than ripping on fans of this week’s opponent, the Pittsburgh Steelers, for their misguided vision that they are somehow the best franchise in the history of pro football. That wasn’t going to work. Gene already crushed [...] The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported today that Brandon Chillar signed a four-year, $21 million extension that will pay him $9.5 million between now and the end of 2010. We at OBOD have always been big fans of Chillar; he’s perhaps the team’s best linebacker in pass coverage, does whatever’s asked of him and rarely is caught [...] After yesterday’s win over the Bears, the Packers are now 9-4 with three weeks to go. I’m not as ecstatic about the win as our resident Big Aristotle was (cool it, Shaq. You’ve got a dozen other clever nicknames). But I’m happy with a win in a road game I thought the Packers could lose. [...] My brother, Bill Lempesis, is a huge Green Bay Packers fan. I’m talking sick huge. In fact, when I think of my brother, I think of the Packers. The two pretty much go hand-in-hand. He’s always been that way, too.
