Monday evening
Before we begin, we at OBOD must apologize to you, the readers.
We told you we’d have a review of Green Bay’s final three picks up shortly after the draft’s conclusion last night.
But we were just flat-out exhausted and, frankly, we didn’t have the collective energy to give you anything more than nonsensical ramblings that simply would not have been up to the OBOD standards.
Now, though, we’ve had a day to rest and recharge, at least a little bit. So, here is a review of the Packers’ final three picks of the day.
- Jarius Wynn, DE, Georgia (sixth round, 182nd overall pick)
Wynn originally began his collegiate career playing JUCO ball at Georgia Military College before transferring to Georgia for his final two seasons.
He played in 25 games as a Bulldog, recording 33 tackles, four sacks and five tackles for loss.
At just 6-feet, 2-inches and 275 pounds, it’s hard to imagine he’ll be the mix at defensive end, even in a backup role. Perhaps he’ll be looking at a backup role at OLB.
- Brandon Underwood, CB, Cincinnati (sixth round, 187th overall pick)
Underwood, like Wynn, originally began his collegiate playing days somewhere other than Cincinnati. Unlike Wynn, Underwood began at a big-time school: Ohio State. Unfortunately, problems with missing team meetings/academics forced Underwood to transfer out of Columbus.
In 14 games last season, Underwood saw extensive playing time and performed fairly well, recording 66 tackles, four interceptions and six passes defended.
At 6-feet, 1-inch and 198 pounds, he’s definitely got the size Green Bay looks for in cornerbacks.
- Brad Jones, OLB, Colorado (seventh round, 218th overall pick)
The Packers closed out arguably their most defense-heavy draft in recent team history by snagging Jones, who saw playing time in each of his four seasons in Boulder.
His numbers only improved as his career progressed and in his senior season, he recorded 48 tackles (14 for loss), seven sacks, 14 quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles. Decent numbers for a seventh round pick.
Jones doesn’t really have the size you’re looking for in a 3-4 outside linebacker (6-feet, 3-inches and 232 pounds), so it’ll be interesting to see where the team puts him.
Alright, well that wraps up our analysis of the individual selections made by the Packers in this year’s draft.
Stay tuned, though, as we’ll be back later in the week to starting breaking down what it all actually means.

Sounds like the blog could have used some fruit juice and candy bars.
Also of note about Jarius Wynn: He played high school football for Larry Campbell, still active and the all-time winningest high school coach in Georgia. Campbell graduated from Calhoun Falls High School, in Abbeville County, and this past fall, Abbeville beat Lincoln County. All of this useless and mostly uninteresting.
