We here at OBOD are men of our collective word. We promised you reaction to the rest of the first round and here it is.
Well, at least picks 11-20 anyways. But don’t worry, we’ll be back to finish our round one thoughts as soon as we can.
Enjoy.
11. Buffalo Bills – Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State
Buffalo has one of the league’s worst pass rushes so this pick makes some sense. But, with Texas’ Brian Orakpo still on the board, taking Maybin – who has quite a bit of bust potential – is a bit of a head-scratcher. (C.L.)
12. Denver Broncos – Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
This pick, however, makes perfect sense. Denver’s once-vaunted run game has fallen off big-time. With either Kyle Orton or Chris Simms starting at quarterback, Denver needed someone to tote the rock and Moreno is probably the draft’s best running back. (C.L.)
13. Washington Redskins – Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas
Signing Albert Haynesworth in the offseason was a big step in turning the ‘Skins pass rush around. Drafting Orakpo, maybe the best pass rusher in the draft, is another big step. Great pick for the ‘Skins. (C.L.)
14. New Orleans Saints – Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
The Saints’ secondary troubles are well-documented and they needed someone to come in and help solidifty things. Jenkins is the best cover corner in the draft and has the skills to make an immediate impact. (C.L.)
15. Houston Texas – Brian Cushing, OLB, USC
Houston has the one of the league’s better offenses. The defense? Well, not so much. Cushing should step in right away and help Mario Williams take down opposing quarterbacks. A very nice pick for Houston. (C.L.)
16. San Diego Chargers – Larry English, DE, Northern Illinois
Maybe a little bit of a reach at #16, but a lot of teams had him graded high. Who knows if Merriman can come back at full strength, so English provides that insurance. (A.S.)
17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (From Cleveland through NY Jets) – Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas St.
The consensus third-rated quarterback in this year’s draft got selected where most had him going. Tampa Bay traded up to get him after looking at their depth chart of Luke McCown, Brian Griese and Josh Johnson. (A.S.)
18. Denver Broncos – Robert Ayers, DE, Tennesse
The Broncos defense was just god-awful last season. Ayers gives new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan a talented pass rusher to get after the likes of Phillip Rivers and Matt Cassel. (A.S.)
19. Philadelphia Eagles (From Tampa Bay through Cleveland)- Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri. (A.S.)
Rumors had Philadelphia going after Braylon Edwards and Anquan Boldin. Wasn’t able to get either (yet), so Maclin was a gift sitting at #19. Donovan McNabb is very happy. (A.S.)
20. Detroit Lions – Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma St.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. (A.S.)

The lions have got to be the worst overall team ever at everything thing they can be horrible at. The went 0 – 16 in the draft to, idiots.
