Crabtree finally taken by San Fran

4:25 p.m.

ESPN’s Michael Smith said there was no way Michael Crabtree was falling past the San Francisco 49ers and, it turns out, he was right.

The Niners tabbed the Texas Tech wideout with the 10th pick of the first round.

This is a very good addition indeed for coach Mike Singletary’s bunch. San Francisco’s offense lacks playmakers in a major way. To add Crabtree, the best wideout in the draft in my opinion, the 49ers now have a player who has the ability to become a top 10 receiver in time.

Last season, Crabtree caught 97 passes for 1,165 yards and 19 touchdowns. In two seasons at Texas Tech, he recorded 231 catches – 231! – for 3,127 yards and 41 touchdowns.

This pick ends the live update portion of our draft coverage. We’ll be checking in with roundups on the rest of the first round as soon as possible.
